A home pregnancy test can give you results that are 99 percent accurate on the day that you miss your period, according to MayoClinic.com. Clearblue pregnancy tests are available at most major pharmacies and discount stores, so it may be your brand of choice. Naturally, you want to be sure that you're reading the test results correctly. While the digital version leaves little guesswork, you'll find that the ink-based version is just as easy to read.
Items you will need

Follow the instructions for taking the test. You must soak the absorbent tip in your urine for at least five seconds.
Look for the flashing hourglass to be sure that the test is working. This shows up at the top of the display window.
Read your results after three minutes. The digital screen will show "Pregnant" or "Not Pregnant."
Take the pregnancy test as directed. You must soak the absorbent tip with your urine.
Check the color of the tip to be sure that it's working. It will turn pink.
Look for the control line to be sure the test worked properly. You should see a single line in the diamond-shaped window.
Look at the results to find out if you're pregnant. If you see a horizontal line in the circle-shaped window, it means you are not pregnant. If you see a plus sign in the window, you are pregnant.
- Use your first-morning urine for the most accurate results.
- The results on the +/- test may be inaccurate if you read them more than 10 minutes after taking the test.
