It is a dietary supplement found from the processed tuberous root of Peruvian ginseng (Lepidium meyenii). The Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, in Lima, Peru, conducted a study of adult men, aged 24 to 44, which resulted in a successful increase of sperm count per ejaculation after taking maca. The sperm motility and sperm volume improved as well. During the study, nine men received 1,500mg or 3,000mg of maca. Maca is also available for women, which helps balance the hormones needed for conceiving.
