Facial Exercises to Tighten the Skin on Upper Eyelidsby Laura Agadoni
Exercising the body helps to keep it in shape, so it’s logical to assume that exercising the face will help to keep it more youthful looking. While no scientific evidence proves that exercising your face works, the theory is that contracting and relaxing facial muscles, including the ones on your eyelids and around your eyes, will improve muscle tone. You can do facial exercises while you watch TV or when you have a break at work for a quick lift, recommends the Care Fair website.
Firm the Upper Eyelid
Look up with your eyes, keeping your head looking straight. Squint with your upper lid 50 times. Make sure you are not forming wrinkles in other parts of your face as you do this. If this is giving you crow’s feet, gently hold the outside corners of your eyes with your fingertips.
Tighten Sagging Eyes
Relax your brow. Widen your eyes as if you are surprised. Look straight at one point for 10 seconds. Repeat this exercise four more times.
Tone Eye Muscles
Press two fingers on both sides of your head at your temples. Open and close your eyes fast, and repeat five times.
Eyelid Stretch with Eyes Closed
Close your eyes and relax. You will keep your eyes closed for this exercise. Lift your eyebrows while stretching your eyelids down as far as you can. Count to five. Relax, and repeat five times.
Eyelid Stretch with Eyes Open
Open your eyes and relax. Lift your eyebrows while closing your eyelids halfway. Open your eyelids as wide as you can.
Tone the Upper Eyelid
Put your index fingers under your eyebrows. Push your fingers up and close your eyes. Stretch your eyelid down. Repeat 10 times. You can repeat this throughout the day.
General Eye Exercise
With your eyes closed, look down. Then, look up as far as you can. Repeat 10 times. Then, open your eyes and look straight ahead. Look up and down, without moving your head. Repeat 10 times. Move your eyes left and right, with your head facing straight ahead. Repeat 10 times.
